Electrical Assembly Student

The Washington Aerospace Training & Research (WATR) Center is industry focused and responsive to workforce needs. We offer flexible training opportunities that meet the needs of the fast-paced manufacturing industry. We are committed to providing innovative and relevant programs of study for present and future workers in Mechanical Assembly, Electrical Assembly, Composites, Quality Assurance, and Tooling for short-term certifications.

12-Week Certificates

Receive two certificates and up to 28 credits in 12 weeks!

  • Manufacturing Core Certificate (prerequisite):  4 weeks | online only
  • Specialty Certificate:  8 weeks | hybrid, online + in-person labs

Prerequisite Certificate

Manufacturing Core Program

The Manufacturing Core is required prior to Specialty Certificates.

  • MFG 105 - AIRCRAFT BASICS CORE

Specialty Certificates

Electrical Assembly Mechanic

Prerequisite: Manufacturing Core Certificate

Please register for all of the following required, concurrent classes:
(These will all be completed during the course of the 8 week certificate)

  • MFG 121 - BASIC SOLDERING
  • MFG 122 - AEROSPACE ELECTRIC WIRING
  • MFG 101 - ELEC ASSMBLY MECH SKLL I
  • MFG 102 - ELEC ASSMBLY MECH SKL II


Manufacturing Assembly Mechanic 

Prerequisite: Manufacturing Core Certificate

Please register for all of the following required, concurrent classes:
(These will all be completed during the course of the 8 week certificate)

  • MFG 110 - AEROSPCE ASSMBLY MECH I
  • MFG 111 - AEROSPCE ASSMBLY MECH II
  • MFG 112 - AEROSPCE ASSMBLY MECH III
  • MFG 113 - AEROSPCE ASSMBLY MECH IV
  • MFG 127 - DRILLING FOR QUALITY


Manufacturing Composites

Prerequisite: Manufacturing Core Certificate

Please register for all of the following required, concurrent classes:

  • MFG 141 - AEROSPACE COMPOSITES I
  • MFG 142 - AEROSPACE COMPOSITES II 
  • MFG 126 - COMPOSITES PRACTICAL APPS 
  • MFG 190 - AEROSPACE MFG/SAFETY


Tooling Mechanic

Prerequisite: Manufacturing Core Certificate

Please register for all of the following required, concurrent classes:
(These will all be completed during the course of the 8 or 12 week certificate)

  • MFG 125 - METROLOGY FOR TOOLING
  • MFG 130 - AERO MANUFACTURNG TOOL I
  • MFG 131 - AERO MANUFACTRNG TOOL II
  • MFG 132 - AEROSPAC TOOLING LAB/CAP


Quality Assurance

Prerequisite: Certification in Electrical Assembly, Manufacturing Assembly
Mechanic, Manufacturing Composites or Tooling Mechanic 
-or-
One year equivalent Aerospace industry related experience

Please register for all of the following required, concurrent classes:
(These will all be completed during the course of the 8 or 12 week certificate)

  • MFG 123 - METROLOGY FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE
  • MFG 124 - AERO QUALITY ASSURANCE TOOLS
  • MFG 169 - COMPOSITES FOR MANUFACTURING
  • MFG 132 - QUALITY ASSURANCE FOR COMPOSITES
